Welcome to CrowdFunding the way it was meant to be! Whether you’re an artist, entrepreneur, inventor, student or travelling journalist, it can be difficult to save up enough money or find the right funding sources to help you move forward as your strive to achieve your goals. Catalyst CrowdFunding Project Funds, Scholarship Funds and Endowment Funds and a world of awesome supporters behind the funds, are here to help.

This is the 4th in a 4-part series, to help you get the most out of your Catalyst Fundraiser.

Fundraising is about people. Focus on supporters and the money will follow.

There’s nothing more thrilling than being on the winning team, except actually playing on that team. Let’s face it, we all want a chance to emerge victorious, to relate to others about our wise decisions, to demonstrate our savvy, express ourselves and be proud of our accomplishments. And when we spend our money on something, we want the satisfaction that whatever we spent our money on was well worth it. When you give people a chance to accomplish some, or all, of these things by getting on board your Catalyst Fundraiser, you’re fulfilling their wishes.

Don’t worry about the money even though it may be your main objective. Instead, focus on people.

If you treat everyone like a walking money bag, then you’re missing our on the most fulfilling and enduring part of Fundraising…building relationships. It’s all about relationships. Life is about relationships. Think of it like this: all alone, you may revel in a beautiful sunset; but experiencing the same sunset can be immensely more enjoyable with others. With your fundraiser, it’s kind of like you’re giving people the chance to experience what you’re experiencing without their having to do any of the heavy lifting.

Focus on your supporters. Without a pretty massive “crowd” of people getting behind your Catalyst Fundraiser, you might as well call a cab.

Imagine this scenario: you’ve invented a big, beautiful, juicy rocket ship with equipment on board that’s going to save humanity by landing on Mars and creating “Earth 2.” You don’t have the resources to purchase the fuel, but if you could just get the word out about your awesome rocket and Earth 2 plan, then certainly people would find it intriguing at least. So, you appeal to the masses (using the magic of social networking), telling all about your rocket and what you need to save humanity.

Don’t focus on the money. After all, who wouldn’t want to get behind the game-changing plan that will save humanity?

Even those who can’t or won’t support it financially would certainly share a story like that. As your awesome story works it’s way around the planet through media, word-of-mouth and the internet, it’s becomes a numbers game, and the odds are in your favor that eventually you’ll get the funding you need to activate your plan.

There are three other posts in this series.
